Lake Anna License Plates

Fishing for a Lake Anna license plate
New Chamber needs 350 to support

  By Irene Luck
Lake Anna residents have been able to show pride in their community for several years by using “Lake Anna” as the address on their correspondence, provided that the proper zip code is used. A selection of car stickers also helps proclaim the area as unique and special. Now there is another option as well – a specialized license plate.    The license plate is being promoted by the Lake Anna Chamber of Commerce and was designed by Kelly Phillips, a member of the chamber.    “Kelly designed several choices and we [chamber members] voted on the one we liked best,” said B. J. Blount, chamber president. “We felt the design stood out and was as unique as Lake Anna. Our objective is to promote Lake Anna with something easy to recognize     that will bring our community to mind for everyone who sees it.”    A minimum of 350 license plate applications need to be received by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles by June 1 before the agency will begin issuing the plates, which cost an additional $10. The license tags can be personalized like any other vanity plate and they can be transferred to a vehicle with an existing plate as well.    “We thought the residents of Lake Anna would be very excited to display the fact that they live or use the lake,” Blount said.    Since the Lake Anna Chamber of Com   merce is promoting the concept, all completed applications and the $10 fee need to be returned to the chamber so that the minimum 350 can be sent in together, Blount said.    Applications are available on the chamber’s website at  www.lakeannachamber.com and follow the link. Completed applications can be mailed to Lake Anna Chamber of Commerce, Special Plate Request, 2991 New Bridge Rd., Mineral, VA 23117 or dropped off at Lake Anna Island Realty, Spartan Homes or Northern Virginia Title and Escrow.

For additional information, contact Donna Blount at (540) 894-4400 or Kelly Phillips at (804) 448-3489.
